Today was my first full day at school. We started the day with singing the Indian national anthem in assembly. I have to learn the whole thing off by heart. Mummy has copied it underneath. I had Maths today too. I had to write down numbers 1-100 in words as well as numbers. I got up to 64! We had PE and played a tag kind of game but with a girls and boys team. The girls won! I have a lot of home work for this week. At least one homework for all my subjects. At leaving time we saw a man climbing up the coconut tree in the school garden. It was as tall as a 5 storey building and he just had a rope on his hands and another on his feet. He looked like a tree frog!

Indian National Anthem

Jana-gana-mana-adhinayaka, jaya he
Bharata-bhagya-vidhata
Punjab-Sindhu-Gujarata-Maratha-
Dravida-Utkala-Banga
Vindhya-Himachala-Yamuna-Ganga
Uchchala-Jaladhi-taranga
Tava shubha name jage
Tava shubha ashish maange
Gahe tava jaya-gatha
Jana-gana-mangala-dayaka jaya he
Bharata-bhagya-vidhata
Jaya he, jaya he, jaya he
Jaya jaya jaya, jaya he !

Jaya Hind!

We have a week’s holiday now for Ganesh Chaturthi is a very famous festival in India and is especially celebrated by a lot of people in Maharashtra and Goa. It marks the birthday of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god.

After school Mummy and I went to get my stitches out. It wasn’t at all bad as I thought it would be. I didn’t feel it. Thank you for all your messages. I really liked skyping with Pa, Julie, Tabitha, Daisy and Luella. Ro took all his clothes off.. Mummy & I have put some pictures of Ro swimming and dressing up.

  1. Hi Anisha,
We are so glad to hear that you had a nice first day at school and have made lots of new friends. Your uniform is very smart, Francesca also wears a uniform, I will ask her to send a photo. Your school lunches sound delicious, very different to a peanut butter and jam sandwich that is popular in America! Your poem was very well written, and we enjoyed reading it. Best of luck with all of your homework.
    Love to Mummy.

  2. Hello Sha Sha,

Wow…first day at school, it sounds really nice and you look fab in your school uniform!

Coconut trees takes Uncle Stu back to when he lived in Africa as a little boy (bit younger than you are now) and he used to eat them and drink the milk out of them….beats a Bounty bar any day.

We heard about you bumping your head….you poor thing, but you were very brave and good to hear that you are ok now.

We have been away on holiday in Devon for a week, not had great weather but lots of fun and we enjoyed looking around Bath today……but Uncle Stu got very wet in his shorts!

We are now staying with Pa in your house at Box and just about to take him out for a nice meal….(we didn’t want to sample his cooking…burnt beans on toast…not for us….but don’t tell him that…ha ha).

Hope the Ro-man and Mummy are having a nice time, we send our fondest love to you all.

Auntie Holly and Uncle Stuey xxxx.
